Spaghetti ai frutti di mare

The whole world knows that Italians love pasta. We could eat pasta almost every day! It's our second biggest love, after "la mamma" (pizza comes third :D)
In South Italy pasta has a strong and spicy taste with seafood. In the sauce they use plenty of clams, mussels, shrimps, squids etc. Of course they come with the good company of tomatoes, garlic and chili!
The following is an easy but tasty pasta ai frutti di mare recipe. Frutti di mare means "fruits of the sea" :)

For this dish you can use either fresh or frozen clams. I bought from Lidl a handy pack of frozen seashell food that was really good.

Ingredients (2 persons):
  • 200 g spaghetti
  • 300 g mixed seashell food (clams, mussels, shrimps, squid)
  • 400 g tomato sauce or peeled tomatoes in tomato juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, very thinly sliced
  • rapeseed oil or olive oil
  • chili
  • bunch of fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • oregano
  • salt & pepper
Directions:
In a large deep sided pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and saute it for few minutes. Increase the heat to medium/high, then add the seafood. Pour the tomato sauce (or peeled tomatoes), chili, oregano and parsley.
Teste the sauce. Add more salt & pepper if needed.
In the meanwhile, drop spaghetti into the boiling water and cook until al dente. Drain the pasta, place it in a large bowl and mix it with the sauce.
